Virginia Tech
Play: “Othello” by William Shakespeare Venue: Squires Haymarket Theatre, Blacksburg Summary: This contemporary production of Shakespeare’s tragedy stars Tech faculty member Michael Anthony Williams and includes visual projections and a live performance by Haitian-American artist Daniel Bernard Roumain on electric/acoustic violin.
Dates and times: 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13-15 ; 2 p.m. Nov. 15 ; 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17-19

Logos Theatricus
Play: “They Chose Me!” by Michael Colby and Ned Paul Ginsburg
Venues: William Fleming High School, Roanoke, and Andrew Lewis Middle School, Salem
Summary: In this unique production, 26 children and their mentor, a 25-year-old woman who herself is an adoptee, share their stories of foster care and adoption in word, song and dance.

Play: “Dead Man’s Cell Phone” by Susan Ruhl
Venue: Upstairs Studio Theatre, Hollins University Theatre Building, Hollins University
Summary: Lianne Jackson plays a lonely woman who takes a cellphone from a dead man and answers it — and becomes entangled in the surreal and complicated life he left behind.

Studio Roanoke
Play: “The Center,” by Ed Falco
Venue: Studio Roanoke, 30 Campbell Ave. Summary: Something terrible has happened at a place referred to in the play only as “The Center.” Sometimes funny, sometimes not so funny, “The Center” asks the audience to step into the shadows and look around.
Dates and times: 8 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7

Note: Studio Roanoke’s final performance of “Donnie and the Monsters” by Robert Gibbs is at 8 tonight

Play: “The Trip to Bountiful” by Horton Foote Venue: Elks National Home, Bedford Summary: Forced to live with her son and daughter-in-law in her golden years, Carrie Watts has one sustaining wish: to revisit her hometown of Bountiful, Texas, before she dies.

Play: “The Fantasticks” by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt

Play: “Class Acts”

Summary: Performances include “I’m Not Herbert,” from “You Know I Can’t Hear You When the Water’s Running” by Robert Anderson and four scenes adapted from Gurney Norman’s “Kinfolks” by Karon Sue Semones Ferguson.
