The Wednesday Short List
Places to go, things to do
TODAY
Drew Exposition
What? Already? Yup, it's two weeks earlier this year. There's still plenty to do there, including 25 rides. Admission is free, but there are ticket sales for rides. Get unlimited rides tonight for $16. 4 to 11 p.m. The Expo runs through May 18. Roanoke Civic Center Parking Lot. 345-4030.
Ceritano's
Take the edge off Humpday with Joel Venditti on classical acoustic guitar and some Italian food. 6 to 10 p.m. 428 North Main St., Blacksburg. 443-9135.
THURSDAY
"Don't Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell"
It opens today-- an irreverent and mostly true comedy that goes behind the scenes of the script-writing for "Gone With the Wind." Filming has already started, but the new script's writer has never read the book, and he has only one week to write it. $27.50 to $33.50, general; $13.50, children under 12. Show runs through Aug. 16. Barter Theatre, 160 Cummings St., Abingdon. (276) 619-3343, bartertheatre.com.
Floral Design Class
It's picnic season! Carolyn McMillan demonstrates how to create a "romantically decorated" picnic basket. Bring your own basket, reservations required. $75. 6 to 8 p.m. Twist & Turns, 128 E. Campbell Ave., Roanoke. 427-5129.
