Hot tickets on Jefferson Center's 2007-08 lineup

Jazz singer Madeleine Peyroux, blues guitarist Keb' Mo' and old favorites Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are a few of the hot tickets on Jefferson Center's 2007-08 schedule.

The center's season runs from September until May and features six performance series highlighted by concerts, children's programs and local performers. Season tickets for the performances go on sale Monday.

The Star City Series rolls out the big shows, and it begins Sept. 27 with the Flecktones taking the Shaftman Performance Hall stage.

Keb' Mo' performs Oct. 11; Peyroux on Nov. 11; Blind Boys of Alabama on Dec. 5; the Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band on Jan. 19; McCoy Tyner Trio and Savion Glover on Feb. 21; Doc Watson, Peter Rowan and Tony Rice on March 7; and Angelique Kidjo on March 27.

The FNB Family Series features three kids-related shows and begins with the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theatre Co. on Oct. 14.

Jefferson Center's performance series also includes an Appalachian Mini Series, Jazz Club, World Music Mini Series and the monthly local music showcase Roanoke Live.

The center expands its educational offerings with an artists-in-schools program, a matinee series for schoolchildren and an arts program for immigrant and refugee teenage girls. Jefferson Center will produce its first North American Festival of Traditional Arts (yes, the acronym is NAFTA) in October, which features performers from Mexico, Quebec and Tennessee.

Any adult who purchases a full-price ticket to a family series show can purchase up to two youth tickets for $1 each.
