Name: Blue Ridge Diversions
Description: Award-Winning Artist Kendall F. Kessler will have a new show, Blue Ridge Diversions at the Blacksburg Public Library Oct. 16 through January 14th 2010. This show will focus on atmospheric vistas of the Blue Ridge locations where her husband Clyde Kessler does his research on birds and butterflies. The show will include scenes from the James River, Rock Castle Gorge, Black Rock Hill, Arnold Valley, Purgatory mountain as well as other picturesque ridges in the new river valley. The show is sponsored by the Blacksburg Regional Art Association. Kendall's studio is open to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5 Call ahead in case of emergencies. 639-5076 Kendall F. Kessler has been exhibiting her work continually since 1983 and her paintings, prints, and drawings have been seen in over seventy national, international, and local shows. She has won numerous awards including awards from Dorothy Gillespie, May Stevens, and Daniel Greene and Frank Webb. She has paintings in private collections in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana, Florida, Washington D.C. and New York. In addition to all her one-person shows and competitions she has been in two group shows on Broadway. She sells her work out of the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley in Pulaski, VA, The Gallery in Radford, and on the internet at kendall-kessler.fineartamerica.com In addition to her work as a professional artist she teaches part-time at Radford University and Spring Semester 2007 won an award for Outstanding Teacher by the Graduate Student Alliance. Her painting, New River Trestle, was recently chosen to be the cover art for the 2008-2009 Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce Business Directory. Her painting, “A Skater” is currently on display in the regional competition at the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley.
