Scalloped OnionsHoliday news and informationReader-submitted recipesScalloped Onions 4 cups thinly sliced sweet onions 3 Tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 3/4 cup thick white sauce (see below) 1/4 cup bread crumbs/stuffing 4 Tbsp. grated cheddar cheese 1 Tbsp. sugar (more to taste) 1/8 tsp. paprika White sauce: 1 Tbsp. butter 2 Tbsp. flour 1 cup milk 1/4 tsp. salt Mix thoroughly before adding to onion mixture Heat butter in pan, add onions, cover and cook until tender and golden brown. Place onions in a greased shallow baking dish, add seasonings and white sauce. Sprinkle top with crumbs, cheese and paprika. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
