Deals and steals at Salem Red Sox games
Play ball! The Salem Red Sox minor league baseball season opens tonight with an eight-game homestand at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Are you ready to save?

Ticket prices have changed a little bit this year, so listen up!
Box seats: $9 (a $1 increase from last season)
Reserved seats (new this year; located between box seats and general admission): $8
General admission: $7 (same price as last season). General admission seats are first-come, first-serve so get there early, but not too early: Gates open one hour before game time Sunday through Friday and 90 minutes before the game Saturday.
Seniors (ages 65 and older) and children (ages 12 and younger) receive $1 off the regular ticket price on box and reserved seating, but not general admission tickets.
SALEM RED SOX KIDS CLUB
For $20, children 12 and younger can become official members of the Salem Red Sox Kids Club. Each member will receive the following benefits:
One kids season ticket, which grants admission to all regular season home games
An official Kids Club card
A membership T-shirt
Autograph sessions with Salem Red Sox players (May 17, Aug. 16).
Four additional tickets to five family nights (April 10, May 29, June 17, July 10, Aug. 19)
Five vouchers for the BB&T Kids Zone, which features inflatables and other kid-centric games
Discount to Salem Red Sox Baseball Academies, various summer camps in July and August.

SALEM RED SOX SILVER SLUGGERS
For $20, people ages 55 or older can become official members of the Salem Red Sox Silver Sluggers. Each member will receive the following benefits:
Admission to all Sunday home games and three Wednesday night games (May 6, July 15 and Aug. 5)
Official Silver Slugger membership card
Membership T-shirt
Salem Red Sox logo baseball

Tonight: Opening night of the 2009 season with live music by the Mill Street Ramblers, free magnetic schedules and postgame fireworks.
Friday: Free magnetic schedules
Saturday: An appearance by the Krazy Karacters, a group of fuzzy mascots who frequent baseball games, and a cruise giveaway
Sunday: Easter egg giveaway for the first 1,000 fans
April 25: Volunteer for a service project on Global Youth Service Day (April 25) and get a free ticket to that night's game (more info at fsrv.org/gysd or call 563-5316). Plus "As Seen on TV" giveaway for the first 1,000 fans and the Guns N' Hoses softball game before the Sox come out to play.
April 26: Mascot Mania featuring mascots from all over the valley
May 5: Cinco de Mayo with Latin music
May 8: Pink in the Park Weekend, a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure breast cancer foundation, with free pink baseballs to the first 1,000 fans.
May 9: Pink in the Park Weekend with Baseball 101 for women, a half-day camp about the game. Plus, the players will be wearing pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game to raise money for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure.

May 15: $500 hot dog giveaway-- your hot dog might be wrapped in cash!

May 17: Kids Expo featuring kid-oriented vendors with information and samples
May 21: Ladies Night with discounted tickets and vendors for women
May 29: A special appearance by the Mayberry Deputy, plus a Business Expo (just like the Kids Expo, except for grown-ups)
May 30: Stress ball giveaway to the first 1,000 fans
June 3: Taste of the Valley featuring free samples from local restaurants
June 12: Teacher Appreciation Night with post-game fireworks and discounted tickets for teachers
June 17: St. Patrick's Day featuring an Irish band for the pregame concert and Irish music throughout the game. Plus the first 1,000 fans will get a bobblehead.
June 28: Internet Safety Night, an educational night for kids about how to be safe online.
July 11: Awful Night, a tongue-in-cheek promotion where everything will be subpar including the surprise giveaway. Hopefully the players won't be awful, too! Details to come.
July 16: Wing Fling with samples of wings from around the region
July 24: Mayberry Deputy bobblehead giveaway to the first 1,000 fans with a special appearance by the Mayberry Deputy.
July 25: Girl Scout Night with discounts and a camp-out for Scouts, with a special appearance by the Zooperstars

SUNDAY (2:05 p.m.*) Kids Eat Free Sunday: Kids 12 and younger will get a free hot dog, soda and bag of chips. * Sunday games in July and August have a 6:05 p.m. start time.
