Mother of all match games

Are you able to match the moms with their daughters?

Can you match them all?

Trish (mom), left, and Alyssa Sterling of Vinton

Alyssa e-mailed: "We always seem to get confused as sisters. The area where we are most alike is our personality, we both are spunky and love to laugh. Whenever I answer the phone everyone always thinks I am her because we sound so much alike. We aren't just mother and daughter, we are best friends."

Lynette Young of Boones Mill (left) and Betty Walters (mom) of Callaway

"People frequently comment that we look like sisters. A friend of mine saw my mother and thought it was me at first," Lynette wrote.

Terry (mom), left, and Kristyn Francisco of Catawba

Kristyn, a junior at Craig County High School, e-mailed: "Often times, my friends mistake my mom for me and vice versa. We share similar features, such as our eyes, nose and mouth. I love my mom very much and consider it a privilege to look like her."

Elle Magee (mom), left, of Roanoke County and Robyn Dubinsky of Blacksburg

Robyn wrote: "My mother and I are 18 years apart, but ever since I can remember people have thought we were sisters. My mother takes great care of herself through exercise, healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. She inspires me to do the same and in 18 more years I think we will have the same message to share."

Norma Jean (mom), left, and Amanda Landis of Christiansburg

Norma Jean e-mailed: "Amanda is sweet 16 and I am, well, at least twice sweet 16! A funny story about Amanda: when she was about 6 or 7 years old, we were having breakfast in our pj's one Saturday morning. She pulled my shirt tight and read the printing, then looked at me and said, "Hey Mom, your shirt is about us." Looking at the lettering, I asked her what she meant. 'Well,' she said matter-of-factly, while pointing to the large "B A D" letters which began each word, 'I'm beautiful and you're demanding.' "

Carole Routt (mom), left, of Roanoke County and Carole Sue Routt-Alford of Roanoke

Carole Sue e-mailed: "Mirror, mirror on the wall, I am my mother after all. My mother and I are both employed by J.C. Penney at Tanglewood Mall. Our clients often say we should be sisters instead of mother and daughter. We both share a common passion for being with and helping people. I'm so blessed to be just like my mom."

Stefanie Fowler of Roanoke (left) and Christel Scholand (mom) of Vinton

"For all of my life, people have commented on how very much my mother and I resemble each other, not only in appearance but in mannerisms," Stefanie wrote.

E. Joel Campbell Hilton (mom) and JoBeth Campbell Hilton, 7, of Wytheville

Joel wrote: "We were named after my grandparents Joseph and Elizabeth. Joel and JoBeth are hard to beat, and around here they call us Pete and Repeat."

Jessica (mom), left, and Lisa Downing of Roanoke County

Jessica wrote: "Lisa and I are often mistaken as sisters, in spite of our 30-year age difference. I have always been fortunate to be thin, so we often share clothes. I am, of course, biased, but I believe my daughter is one of the most beautiful people I've had the privilege of knowing. She is intelligent, witty, generous, spirited, kind and sweet. Her smile can light up a room and her laughter is musical."

Ruby Via Harlow (mom), left, of Roanoke County and Carol Harlow-Koss of Salem

Ruby wrote: "Though there are 27 years' difference in our ages, our fantastic mother/daughter relationship has always been a joy. My wish is that all mothers and daughters could share the harmony that we have enjoyed since the day my daughter was born. It all comes from respect for each other and high standards that regulate our lifestyles. We talk on the phone every day as she is Grammie's 'psychologist.' "

Donna Johnson (mom), left, of Salem and Marcie Johnson of Lynchburg

Donna wrote: "We sent a Christmas 2007 greeting card with our family picture to my husband's grandmother. His cousin's daughter, who is 4 years old, saw it on her refrigerator and kept pointing at my daughter and I and said, 'they are the same!' "

Trelisha (left) and Trelbie (mom) Whitehead of Roanoke County

Trelbie e-mailed: "Not only do we look a lot alike, we also share a very special bond. I am so proud to call her my daughter. She is getting married on May 31 of this year, and I will miss her living at home. However, with the bond that we share, I am confident that the bond will only grow stronger as the years pass by."
