Andy Null
Kyle Green | The Roanoke
Times

Home: Roanoke County

Age: 33

Sign: Libra

Occupation: He's a computer specialist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem.

Nominated by: Co-worker Christine Woodrum. According to Christine, Andy's "one of the most unselfish and sensitive men around."

About Andy: A Florida native, Andy was in the Navy for seven years before settling in Roanoke. He coaches his 8-year-old son's baseball team and he's never met a stranger. He's positive (the glass is 7/8ths full), humorous (sarcastic with a dash of wit) and, on more than one occasion, he's been accused of always smiling.

General interests: First and foremost, his son, Hunter. Then, in no particular order: pool, softball, volleyball and travel.

Where you're most likely to find him: Corned Beef & Co. or Cornerstone in downtown Roanoke or Mac and Bob's in Salem.

Andy's routine when he goes out: He's more "go with the flow" than routine, but he knows a lot of people in Roanoke's restaurant business so he usually haunts several bars.

How long he's been single: 3 years

Pro of single life: He's only responsible for Hunter and himself, and that's hard enough as it is.

Con of single life: You don't have that particular someone to enrich your life.

Whom he'd like to meet: He's open to meeting all nonsmoking, nonbunny-killing (e.g., "Fatal Attraction") single women with interesting ideas to share.

How he rates Roanoke's single life on a scale of 1 to 5: Above average

Why? It's a great place to live and he has many friends in the Star City. As far as Roanoke's single life is concerned, this is the only place he's dated as an adult so he doesn't really have anything to compare it to.

Best date in Roanoke: A wine festival and then dinner at Frankie Rowlands Steak House, which he considers to be hands down the best restaurant in Roanoke.

Worst date in Roanoke: He likes doing everything.

How to approach Andy: However you're comfortable. If you have to, throw a drink in his face and slap him (he kids! he kids!).
