Peter Tork is a part of American pop culture history. He was in the Monkees, a made for TV band, decades before American Idol was even a gleam in Simon Cowell's eye. But Tork was also a real musician, jamming with artists as diverse as folk/blues guru Dave Van Ronk and psychedelic rock god Jimi Hendrix.

Tork and his band, Shoe Suede Blues, played Wednesday night at the Club at Fiji Island, and they were all cool enough to stop by beforehand — not just for this podcast, but for a pretty crazy TimesCast segment that Tork performed. See him in action on the Thursday TimesCast.
