Roanoke-owned radio stations on top
A trio of Roanoke-owned radio stations are holding on to the top spots in the Roanoke/Lynchburg market, according to the Arbitron fall survey released Friday.
Mel Wheeler Inc.'s WSLC-FM Star Country, WSLQ-FM Q-99 and WXLK-FM K-92 remain one, two and three, respectively, on the twice yearly ratings list. Clear Channel's WJJS-FM Jammin' JJS took the No. 4 spot, with WVBE-FM ViBE 100, another Wheeler outlet, moving into a tie for fifth with WROV-FM The Rock of Virginia. Clear Channel's WROV fell one spot from its spring survey position.
Arbitron conducted the audience share survey from Sept. 17 to Dec. 9, covering all hours except midnight to 6 a.m. on Mondays, according to information provided by Wheeler's Kathy Rilee.
In its first full ratings period, WSFF Steve FM (previously The Bull) finished 10th.

3. WXLK-FM K92, 7.2
