If you know even a little about bluegrass music, then you know Rhonda Vincent.
The seven-time International Bluegrass Music Association female vocalist of the year is going for eight at this year's annual shindig. She and her band, the Rage, are road dogs, logging at least a couple of hundred dates a year. And her most recent CD, "Good Thing Going," has ridden atop the Billboard and Roots Music Report charts since its release early this year.
Vincent, who performs regularly in the Roanoke region, is in Buena Vista this weekend to headline the eighth annual Nothin' Fancy Bluegrass Festival.
Along with Vincent, the Dillard (of "Andy Griffith Show" fame), NewFound Road, Michelle Nixon & Drive, Randy Waller & the Country Gentlemen -- and of course, Nothin' Fancy -- are among acts on the bill.
The awards, adoration and touring never get old, Vincent said in an e-mail interview last week.
"It's always exciting to be recognized for the work you do," Vincent wrote. "The Rage and I are fans first of the bluegrass music. We work very hard and travel the road many miles. It's wonderful to be honored by our peers for doing what we love."
