Emile Hirsch stars as the titular race car enthusiast, who is blackmailed by an evil corporation and forced to compete in a cross-country race called Death Race 2000 ... uh, make that The Crucible. Matthew Fox, Susan Sarandon, John Goodman and Christina Ricci also appear, but the real stars of the movie are the revolutionary special effects, which turns an ordinary car race into a brightly colored cinematic video game. But before they can officially dissolve the union, they end up hitting the jackpot at a slot machine and have to spend six months giving their marriage a try before they can get their hands on any of the money.
