Get Out: Chocolate festival

lewisburgchocolatefestival.com
What: Lewisburg Chocolate Festival
When: Friday and Saturday
Where: Downtown Lewisburg, W. Va.
Distance from Roanoke: If you take Virginia 311 from Interstate 81, Exit 141, in Salem, it's about 70 miles (90-minute drive).
Why it's worth the drive: Because it combines two passions -- shopping and chocolate. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, you can stroll from shop to shop in downtown Lewisburg, sampling something chocolatey at each business ($3 for four tasting tickets). The second annual festival also features chocolate-themed dinners at area restaurants (check the Web site for menus); demonstrations by the Greenbrier's executive pastry chef and Marcel Desaulniers (author of "Death by Chocolate"); and a Friday night concert by the Carolina Chocolate Drops at Carnegie Hall.
