Roanoke mayor calls for region to 'soar together'
Nelson Harris gave his first state of the city speech this morning.
Roanoke Mayor Nelson Harris used his first state of the city speech this morning to reaffirm his commitment to a new day of increased governmental conciliation and collaboration.
In his 30-minute remarks, Harris, a Baptist minister, criticized nothing and praised all in attendance. At one point, Harris referenced the city's new logo, which includes an image of the city's beloved Mill Mountain Star and rays emanating from it. "Roanoke is a great place to live — it is a great place to work," Harris said. "So again, let's soar together."
