FloydFest highlights: 2002-2006
FLOYDFEST I
Sept. 27-29, 2002
Main Performers: The Neville Brothers, Sam Bush, Rhonda Vincent, John Scofield, Doc Watson, African Showboyz.
Crowd: 4,500
Weather: Tropical storm Isidore lashed the first day of the festival, drenching fans and performers alike. The festival’s final two days were sunny, but the crowd total was less than what organizers had hoped for.
FLOYDFEST II
Aug. 15-17, 2003
Main Performers: Nickel Creek, Reeltime Travelers, David Grisman Quintet.
Crowd: 5,500
Weather: Sunny, except for light rain on the festival’s last day.
FLOYDFEST III
Aug. 13-15, 2004
Main Performers: Del McCoury Band, Sam Bush, Donna the Buffalo, Dar Williams, Culture.
Crowd: 6,500
Weather: Cool, cloudy and occasionally wet. Another tropical system nicked the festival, dampening the show on Saturday. Fog was pretty thick, too.
FLOYDFEST IV
July 29-31, 2005
Main Performers: Ani DiFranco, DJ Williams, Avett Brothers, Xavier Rudd.
Crowd: 8,000
Weather: Hot.
FLOYDFEST V
July 27-30, 2006
Main Performers: Los Lobos, Tim O’Brien, Cyro Baptista, Eddie From Ohio, Iris Dement, Rory Block, Balfa Toujours.
Crowd: 10,000
Weather: Hot, humid, sprinkly. The first FloydFest to run four days, FF V was the largest festival to date.
