Ken Cuccinelli will have officers' backs
Ken Cuccinelli will have officers' backs
If you believe in protection for your family, home and business and in a united effort to safeguard freedom, then Ken Cuccinelli is your man for attorney general. I'm not the only one saying that, either.
Cuccinelli recently won the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police, the largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers. No one knows the dangers and difficulties faced by today's police officers better than the men and women who wear a badge and, day in and day out, risk their own lives to make our streets safe. The FOP protects their interests by advocating for legislation, representing officers and getting involved in Virginia's communities.
The attorney general is the man behind the man behind the gun. Police officers face danger at every traffic stop, on every dispatch and investigating any crime. We trust them to make the right call. The police trust the attorney general to watch their back.
Let's put in office the man who will go to bat for Virginia's police officers every time. Let's make Cuccinelli Virginia's next attorney general.
Vote Cuccinelli to protect property
One of the most important rights any citizen has is the right to keep and own private property. Virginians deserve an attorney general who will protect this right 100 percent.
Ken Cuccinelli is the only candidate for attorney general who possesses the experience and voting record to back up his promise to secure private property rights. Cuccinelli introduced legislation to strengthen protection for property owners and keep government from overriding property rights to benefit big businesses and developers. This legislation ensures that government cannot force people to sell their property for below-market value and limits eminent domain power solely to public uses such as schools and roads.
Cuccinelli has been one of the most successful members of our government when it comes to protecting our fundamental rights. He has continually fought to strengthen property rights for individuals, and obtained the passage of legislation that has seen Virginia's property rights protection go from being one of the worst in the U.S. to becoming one of the strongest.
As attorney general, he will work to create a constitutional amendment to secure long-term private property protection. Cuccinelli cares about citizens and their rights, and has the experience Virginia needs in its government.
Holland is the
man for the job
The election Tuesday is significant to all residents of Roanoke. At that time, city voters can re-elect a person who has given more to Roanoke than his title demands.
Sherman Holland has received nothing less than excellent marks from the state auditor regarding his work as commissioner of revenue. He also has lent himself to many great causes in the Roanoke Valley, and he always has the time to help any citizen in need of his services.
He has meticulously taken care of the financial interests of Roanoke. Yes, it is his job, but Holland has always gone above and beyond the call of duty to ingratiate himself to the citizens of Roanoke. No one could calculate the amount of time he has given outside normal business hours to help with citizen requests. It is not all about the job for Holland.
When you exercise your right to vote on Tuesday, cast it for a person who is a native of Roanoke, one who has a vested interest in the city he loves. Vote Holland for commissioner of revenue.
Bet on McDonnell to improve state
During a political campaign, nothing is more important than deciding which candidate is more trustworthy. Once we elect people, we have no way of forcing them to keep their promises. We can only go by their record and hope for the best.
In the race for Virginia governor, Creigh Deeds used to be for Second Amendment gun rights but now wants to restrict them. One candidate says he's against higher taxes, but voted repeatedly to raise taxes and has also said, during moments of candor, that he does want higher taxes.
Bob McDonnell, by contrast, has a consistent plan to create jobs. He has a comprehensive plan to deal with transportation issues. He has consistently voted to cut taxes and to make Virginia more attractive to business. I believe McDonnell will work hard to accomplish what he has promised that will make Virginia an even better place to live for everyone.
Every time we cast a vote, it's a gamble. But a vote for McDonnell is about as close to a sure thing as we'll ever have.
Not sad to see election ads go
Election Day can't get here soon enough. The incessant deceptive, demeaning, negative and repetitive Virginia political ads on every local and cable channel could encourage one not to vote at all. The accusations that every candidate is going to raise taxes is juvenile at best and insults our intelligence.
Just think what the millions spent on these attack ads could do for Virginia's economy. I have a solution. Use the mute button on your remote control.
Keep policies of a best-run state
Under Govs. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, Virginia has consistently been recognized for being the best state for business and also one of the best-run states. This is one reason Virginia's unemployment rate has remained around 6.5 percent (August), well below the national average of 9.6 percent.
Creigh Deeds has said he will manage Virginia in the same manner. Why would a thinking citizen vote for a candidate who would reverse such policies and their progress? The Republican Party has been the party of "no" lately regarding any proposal by our leaders, and wishes only for their failure.
Bob McDonnell's plan to use the general fund to improve our roads takes money away from needed programs, including education. He was even against stimulus funds to help our laid-off workers in this time of their need. I don't call this compassionate conservatism.
Vote for Creigh Deeds and his ticket to keep Virginia on a positive track for the people.
