In 2008, The Roanoke Times sports staff judged the “Dream 18” holes in Southwest Virginia. But since then two courses closed and we were down to 16. You nominated your favorite holes to help us fill out the 2013 edition of the list and the winners are in: No. 16 at Roanoke's Ole Monterey, the longest par-3 hole in The Roanoke Times' coverage area; and from the Olde Mill Resort in Laurel Fork, the par-5, fifth hole, with a green guarded by water on the left and a gigantic rock wall on the right.
