    This museum is made up of twelve scenes presenting life-size wax models of the main protagonists of the War. Authentic recordings of the voices of the major players - Pétain, de Gaulle, Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin among others.

    This museum tells the story of Alençon, from its occupation to its liberation. The town pays homage to its liberator, the museum is situated in what was General Leclerc's command post on August 12th 1944.

    It was on this very spot, near Pegasus Bridge that the gliders of the 6th Airborne division landed during the night of June 5th to 6th 1944. Displays of material, arms, badges. Sound and light show during the high season.

    With the aim of placing the Normandy campaigns in the context of the two world wars, the Caen Memorial plunges the visitor into the history of the 20th century with its narrative, historical, and at the same time, lyrical approach. Its ambition is to promote the idea of Peace. Created by the city of Caen, it was formally opened on June 6th 1988 by François Mitterand and the ambassadors of the other 11 countries who fought for peace in 1944. Nobel Prize-Winners' Gallery.     An impressive necropolis which stretches over 2 ha (5 acres). The 21 500 German soldiers who fell during the fighting in 1944 are buried here under groups of 5 or 6 black crosses. Memorial chapel at the entrance.

    A stela marks the meeting place of Polish troops fighting alongside the Canadian I Army and the Americans of the US III Army on August 19th 1944.

    Overlooking Omaha Beach, this cemetery of over 70 hectares (172 acres), contains over 9 000 perfectly aligned white crosses. This is a place of reflection and remembrance. There are also a memorial and a chapel in this moving cemetery.
