Info on 82 slayings
The Roanoke Valley saw 20 homicides in 2010, and seven so far in 2011. But the period from 2006 through May 2011 brought 82 homicides. Forty-nine were in Roanoke, while there were 11 in Roanoke County, eight in Bedford County, nine in Franklin County, three in Salem, one in Botetourt County, and one in the city of Bedford.
