D.A.R.E. fundraiser
Roanoke police are partnering with Schwan's to send children to D.A.R.E. Camp. A portion of Schwan's sales at two locations today will go toward this project. The police department also is seeking donations to send children to camp; $125 will pay for one child to attend the four-day camp.

Carilion volunteers
Carilion Clinic is looking for volunteers for positions including hospitality, gift shop and information desks. Volunteers must commit to four hours, one day a week.

Relay for Life
Raise awareness and money for cancer research through this annual event sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Golf tournament
The Roanoke Police Department will hold its annual golf tournament to benefit Special Olympics Virginia. Money also will be raised to benefit injured Officer Bryan Lawrence.

Where: Ashley Plantation
Cost: $240 for a team of four; includes breakfast, lunch and carts and greens fees.
