Stamp Out Hunger
For 16 years running, the U.S. Postal Service and Campbell's Soup have teamed up to collect food for the needy.
When: May 9; leave nonperishable items in a bag next to your mailbox to be picked up by your mail carrier
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides
Run, walk or jog to raise money for cystic fibrosis research.
When: May 2; registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

English language tutoring
Refugee and Immigration Services will hold a training session for volunteers interested in teaching survival English skills to recently arrived refugees from Iraq, Bhutan, Myanmar and Somalia.

Pet food donations
Black Dog Salvage is now a collection site for pet food donations for the Pets Eat Too program, which supplies the Manna Ministries food pantry and Meals on Wheels.
When: Ongoing. Donate at least six cans or an 8-pound bag of pet food through April 30 to receive a 25 percent discount on Black Dog merchandise.
Cellphone donations
Give your old cellphones to 911 Cell Phone Bank, which will recycle them and give them to law enforcement and victim services agencies for distribution to senior citizens, victims of domestic abuse and others in need.
