Camp volunteers
The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Southwest Virginia is looking for young men age 17 or older to volunteer at its annual summer camp, July 5-10 at Smith Mountain Lake. Volunteers will act as companions to children or teenagers with neuromuscular disorders. Contact: 772-3237
Host families
CompassUSA is seeking host families for about 25 Chinese high school students who will visit the Roanoke Valley from July 19 to Aug. 2.

Fresh Air Fund
Host a child from New York City this summer through the Fresh Air Fund's Friendly Town program. Each year, up to 5,000 children visit volunteer host families from Virginia to Maine for up to two weeks.

Volunteer drivers
Bedford Ride, a nonprofit organization that provides free transportation to nonemergency medical appointments for elderly, disabled and low-income residents of Bedford and Bedford County, is seeking volunteer drivers. The organization supplies the vehicle, gas and insurance.
