Tie One On for Safety
Mothers Against Drunk Driving fundraiser in memory of Jason Maxey, the Rocky Mount police officer killed in October in a wreck on U.S. 220. The event will include musical performances; food and drink available.
When: Saturday, 3-6 p.m.

Fill the Truck
Help the Franklin County Humane Society stock up on necessities. Wish list includes paper towels, toilet paper, liquid laundry soap and fabric softener, nonchlorine bleach, liquid hand soap, anti-bacterial surface cleaner, distilled water, towels for the animals, digital thermometers, rubbing alcohol, trash bags, copy paper, index cards and mailing labels.
When: Dec. 20, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Holiday Help and Care Festival
The festival benefits We Care of Franklin County and Helping Hands of Franklin County, to assist families in need. Carriage rides, Santa visit, music, food and more.
When: Dec. 20, 2-7 p.m.
Where: Rocky Mount Farmers Market, 435 Franklin St.
Cost: Donation of canned food or toys, or money for rides or to vote for custom trucks or cars.

Toy drive
Bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation to a participating Chick-fil-A restaurant and get a free peppermint chocolate chip milkshake.
When: Through Saturday.
Where: Participating locations in Roanoke, Christiansburg and Martinsville
Santa to a Senior
Help deliver gifts to needy senior citizens.
When: Through Monday.
