Kelsey Sellers, a rising junior at Emory and Henry College, has received a scholarship from the Military Ex-Prisoners of War Foundation.

Sellers, a 2007 graduate of Salem High School, qualified for the scholarship because her grandfather William Austin was a prisoner of war during World War II.

She is the daughter of Angela Sellers and the late Ronald Sellers.

Sellers is studying interdisciplinary social studies and is on the dean's list. She is a member of the Emory and Henry women's soccer team and made the 2008 ODAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team, Sportsmanship Team and Academic Team.

Airman Alexander Doyle, a 2008 graduate of Cave Spring High School, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Morgan Doyle of Roanoke.

Army Pfc. Travis Franklin has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Franklin is the son of Chip and Brenda Franklin of Troutville and a 2007 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.

Army Pvt. Courtney Smith has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

Smith, a 2003 graduate of Radford High School, is the son of Janet Smith of Roanoke and David Smith of Radford.

Army Reserve Pvt. Asia Richardson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

She is the daughter of Shelita Richardson of Georgia and granddaughter of Karen Richardson of Roanoke.

Army Pfc. Donovan Ditzler has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Ditzler is the son of Donald Ditzler of Roanoke.
