Botetourt grad gets spot in Crowe film

Meghan Rossi, a 1999 Lord Botetourt graduate, isn't pursing an acting career, but she has one role under her belt.
She plays a cocktail waitress in the film "State of Play" with Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck.
She is seen walking around serving wine during a children's play in the movie.
"The one scene that I'm in took about six hours to film, and it was at The Kennedy Center in [Washington] D.C.," Rossi said in an e-mail.
"I'm not pursuing an acting career, but I do enjoy participating in these types of events."
She has modeled, doing fashion shows for new boutique openings and charity events in the Washington, D.C., area.
"While filming I met Russell Crowe, and he introduced himself (very nice man!). He autographed his business card for the role he was playing as a reporter for the Washington Globe."
Rossi, a 2003 Radford University graduate, lives in Northern Virginia and is a national account manager for Sprint Business Solutions.
She is the daughter of Steve and Beth Rossi of Blue Ridge.
Beth Rossi said her daughter appears about 90 minutes into the film, "walking behind Crowe and Jeff Daniels. She's a blur, but it's her."

Quaneisha Reynolds, a 2008 graduate of William Fleming High School, has received a $500 scholarship from the Loudon Melrose Neighborhood Organization Inc.
She attends the University of North Carolina and is the daughter of Tracy Reynolds.

First Lt. Christian Obenshain has graduated from the Army's Judge Advocate General's School in the top 20 percent of his class.
Obenshain has served in the Army Reserve since January 2003, achieving the rank of sergeant before his commissioning in October. He is continuing his officer's training at Fort Sill, Okla., and will serve as an Army Reserve Judge Advocate for the 154th Legal Services Organization.
Obenshain is a 1996 graduate of Cave Spring High School and a 2000 graduate of Bridgewater College. He received his doctor of laws from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2006. He has served as law clerk for James Haley, a judge of the Virginia Court of Appeals, and is on leave from the Radford Commonwealth Attorney's Office, where he's an assistant.
Obenshain is the son of Joe and Marcia Obenshain of Fincastle.

Jessica Haley, a member of the Class of 2010 at Skidmore College, has been inducted into the Alpha Delta Tau Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, an international history honor society.
Haley is the daughter of Greg and Michele Haley of Roanoke.

Hampden-Sydney College junior Daniel Isaacs has been initiated into the Gamma Chapter of Chi Beta Phi, a national honorary science society that recognizes and rewards academic excellence in the sciences and encourages participation in scientific fields.
Isaacs, a Venable scholar, is on the cross-country team and is a member of the Society of Physics Students, plays club soccer and is a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, a professional scientific fraternity.
He is majoring in physics and is the son of Danny and Brenda Isaacs of Troutville.
