Cave Spring High School hosts annual basketball camp

Tell us where to go

Each week, our camera captures youth sports and recreation in Southwest Roanoke County. Where should we go next? E-mail news@swo-co.com to let us know.

The state championship basketball team at Cave Spring High School began their annual basketball camp this week. The camp began on Monday, June 22, and continued through Thursday, June 24, from 9:30 to 3:30 each day.

Each day the campers get to experience a new guest speaker. Parisi Speed School came out to show the campers some drills. Parisi also worked with the basketball team beginning in August of last year, prior to their 2008-2009 state championship season.

Coach Billy Hicks said that this year has been another successful year thus far with 110 campers and coaches helping out. About 30 of those are head coaches, assistant coaches, and the CSHS boys basketball team. There were about 80 campers total who ranged from ages 7 to 14.
