"The Gardens and Groves neighborhood had hundreds of trick or treaters roaming the streets.

Audrey and Thomas Kidd and their friends made their own costumes this year. Audrey had a costume making get together about 2 weeks before Halloween. All of the girls painted their cards, made their crowns and searched through the dress up clothes to construct their Queens of the Deck costumes. They didn't let the time change falling after Halloween mess up their early departure strategy. They left the house by six and didn't return until 8:30.

Many houses ran out of candy by 8 and were raiding their pantries in order to keep up with the stream of children coming by. One of our neighbors on Monet said she gave out 300 pieces of candy in less than two hours. Several houses had canopies set up in case of rain. There were movie screens showing Halloween films, fire pits with friends gathered around, games and haunted garages.

The girls loved the haunted garage where they were chased out by the Joker screaming for their lives. The mom's favorite was a man dressed up in a "gilly" suit by the curb. The kids went to the house while we waited on the road. While we waited we discussed what the thing might be. Suddenly he jumped at us, we screamed and our dog went on super guard dog mode, growling and barking. The man didn't move again until we calmed the dog down. Everyone said it was the best Halloween ever and they can't wait until next year."
