Salem High student appears in Showtimers play

EPIC concert
EPIC, the valleywide teen gathering on Sunday nights, had a concert by the band DecembeRadio on Sept. 20. There were 300-plus high school students in attendance. This gathering is currently hosted at Fellowship Community Church and is open to all high school students beginning at 6:23 pm every Sunday night. Submitted by Becky Walls
Salem High student appears in Showtimers play
Kelly Mangum, a freshman at Salem High School, is appearing in "Wait Until Dark," now running at Showtimers community theatre on Electric Road in Roanoke County.
Cris Emerson of Showtimers -- another Salem resident -- sends us this information:
Kelly Mangum was in a couple of school plays when she was younger. She has also been attending Miss Mona's Drama Camp for two years and has been taking classes there. She is very excited to be in her first Showtimers production.

KidsFest

Scripture ride Oct. 3
The 4th Annual Scripture Ride to benefit the Christian Motorcycle Association's "Run for the Son" is on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Cars and motorcycles will leave the Lakeside Baptist Church parking lot at 10 a.m., registration begins at 9 a.m. The ride goes up Route 311 and back through Daleville approximately 60 miles with stops including one with food and prizes. Bring your Bible!
Cost: $10 per bike or car

Salem boy appears in 'The Giver'
Connor Huffman of Salem appears in the upcoming production of "The Giver" at the Roanoke Children's Theatre.
From the well known novel by Lois Lowry, "The Giver" is about 12-year-old Jonas, who lives in a seemingly perfect futuristic world and what he does when he learns the great price his community pays for such perfection.
The show runs Oct. 6-11 at the Taubman Museum of Art.

3 Salem artists
chosen for art show
Three artists from Salem are among the 43 selected for the 30th annual Roanoke City Art Show, which opened Thursday and runs through Nov. 8.
They are Ursula Suzanne Dilley, Julie Hamilton and Annie Waldrop.
