Wrestling clinic a hit on the north end of the county

Tell us where to go

Each week, our camera captures youth sports and recreation in Botetourt County. Where should we go next? E-mail news@botetourtview.com to let us know.

For several Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., a wrestling clinic was held at James River High School. Sponsored by Parks and Recreation with the hopes of establishing a wrestling club on the north end of the county, JRHS wrestling coach Tim Jennings and his high school wrestling team were instrumental in putting on the clinic. It drew 17 interested kids on the elementary and middle school age groups. The potential wrestlers may result in a club like the one that meets every Monday and Wednesday at Read Mountain Middle School.

Said Mary Ellen Barger at Parks and Rec, "We are seeing good results and there is definite interest in the sport."
