Hollins names honor students from Botetourt

Three students from Botetourt County have been named honor students at Hollins University for the 2009 fall semester.
To attain this distinction, students must earn at least a 3.5 average on a 4.0 grading scale.
The students are:
Rachel Beneth Bandy, a senior film and business major. Bandy is the daughter of David and Cindy Bandy of Fincastle.
Whitney Elise Blackburn, a junior English major. Blackburn is the daughter of Anthony and Mary Blackburn of Buchanan.
Elizabeth Ann Markham of Troutville, and an Adult Horizon student.
English honor society inducts Blue Ridge student
Stephanie Shields, daughter of Sam and Sherry Shields of Blue Ridge, has been inducted into the Bryan College chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, an English honor society. Sigma Tau Delta is open to English students who have distinguished themselves academically and who are interested in promoting interest in literature and the English language.
Troutville student graduates from East Tenn.
Cody Martin of Troutville graduated with a BS Engineering Technology from East Tennessee State University during the winter graduation in December.
Hampden-Sydney honors Fincastle student
Christian Adam Pritchett, a sophomore, has been named to the Dean's List for the first semester of the 2009-2010 academic year. To earn this distinction, students must achieve at least a 3.3 semester grade point average out of a possible 4.0.
Cap is a graduate of Community High School and is the son of Gretchen Notermann and the late Henry Pritchett of Fincastle.
