Arts and crafts bazaar Saturday, Nov. 7
Mark your calendars for the Cloverdale Church of the Brethren 21st annual Women's Fellowship Arts and Crafts Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church located at 4708 Read Mountain Road.
Christmas gift baskets, gift baskets for all occasions gift bags,handcrafted jewelry with semi-precious stones, jewelry boxes, towels, hats, needlework, tote bags, shirts, crocheted items, baby quilts, afghans, table runners, embroidery and hand-sewn bags, scarves, pocketbooks, Christmas ornaments, floral arrangements, wreaths, clocks, figurines, hand-painted items, country crafts, clothes for American Girl dolls, doll furniture, snowmen, wooden pictures, wood items, hemp necklaces, original watercolors and prints, photography, oil paintings, home-canned jams & jellies,breads & other baked goods. Also a larger-than-ever silent auction.

Ketron wins tournament division
Jim Ketron of Bonsack won his division in the Roanoke Valley Senior Golf Tour's October tournament, held Oct. 13 at Blue Hills Golf Club.
Ketron finished with a net score of 64.

National College summer Dean's List
National College in the Roanoke Valley has released the Dean's List for the Summer Terms. The following students from Botetourt County achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 and thus achieving the honor and privilege of being placed on the Dean's List:

Botetourt volunteer wins award
J.D. Seneff of Botetourt County has been awarded the National Volunteer Excellence Award in the retiree category for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Thrivent Financial selected Seneff for this honor because of his dedication to helping others through volunteerism and service using Thrivent Financial programs in 2008. During the year, he supports Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity and raises funds for Brandon Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
As a faith-based not-for-profit organization, Thrivent Financial and its members give back to congregations and communities. Members are organized into 1,357 local chapters and conduct approximately 75,000 volunteer activities each year. JD Seneff is a leader of the Blue Ridge Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, which serves the Roanoke area.
Thrivent Financial provided $1,000 each in Seneff's name to Habitat for Humanity and the Rescue Mission, the charitable organizations of his choice.

4 from Troutville graduate from Radford
Four residents of Troutville graduated from Radford University at the end of the summer session.
Earning a master of science degree was Dawn Clinebell Bowyer, education.
Earning bachelor of science degrees were Amy Elizabeth Halterman, nursing; Kathryn Rose Sloan, communication; and Jamie Lynn Clark, exercise, sport and health education.

Parks & Rec fitness classes
The Botetourt County Parks & Recreation Dept. is offering several fitness classes and opportunities this fall. Among them:
The Fitness Center/Weight Room at James River High School is free of charge to individuals 16 andup. Hours are Mondays & Thursdays 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. For more information call the parks and rec office at 473-8326.
Adult Open Gym at James River High School is free of charge to individuals 16 and up. Auxiliary gym is open every Monday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. For more information call Chad Neighbors at 798-5021.
