Troutville student named E&H homecoming queen

Jamie Roy of Troutville recently was named homecoming queen at Emory & Henry College.
The president of Emory & Henry's chapter of the Cardinal Key National Honors Society, Roy was elected by her peers and crowned during Emory & Henry's homecoming football game against Randolph-Macon College.
A psychology major, Roy is the daughter of Wanda Roy of Troutville. Nominated by the Blue Key National Men's Honor Society, she is captain of the women's softball team, president of Alpha Beta Chi sorority, secretary of Psi Chi National Psychology Honors Society, member of the Psychology Club and a former senator on the college Judicial Council. She a volunteer through the Appalachian Center for Community Service.
After graduation in May of 2009, Roy hopes to attend physician assistant school and travel to Africa to study public health service among women and children who suffer from the HIV/AIDS virus.
Roy's escort was Blue Key National Honor Society member Angaza Thom of Brooklyn, N.Y.
"I have gained many friends from various backgrounds that have taught me what it has meant to live and to be a true and real person in this world. I have always been a busy person while at Emory, but the skills and friends I have gained from my involved life here will forever stay with me," the homecoming queen said.
