Lord Botetourt High alum graduates from basic training

Air Force Airman Cecily N. Amonett has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airmen studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Amonett is the daughter of Kimberly Rebyrn of Roanoke, Va.

In 2007, Amonett graduated from Lord Botetourt High School, Daleville.

What's on the menu at Troutville Rescue Squad?

Last week was homecoming week at Lord Botetourt High School. Alumnae from the Class of 1975 get together every couple of months and have dinner and loads of laughs. They ventured to Bedford, where classmate Teresa Bryant Craig lives, and had dinner at the Old Liberty Train Station. Those there included: Sharon Riley Porter, Wanda Payne, Teresa Bryant Craig, Karen Riley Clark; Karen Adams Fechisin, Debbie Bryant Noble, Connie Guynn Houff, Teresas Metts Pence, Carol Camper Brenner and Debbie Fleming Brogan.

The Troutville Rescue Squad is currently in the process of creating their very first cookbook! We will be collecting recipes, as well as donations to go towards the cookbook, through the month of October. We need all kinds-appetizers, breads, desserts, etc. To drop off a recipe, please stop by the station at 20 Sunset Ave, across from Thriftway; or mail it to: Troutville Rescue Squad, Attn: Ashley Amos, P.O.
