Summary: A listing of fall festivals in Virginia.
Es otoño, tiempo en el cual tradicionalmente celebramos con gran entusiasmo el cambio de estación, y el inicio de los preparativos de fin de año. En el Valle de Roanoke y otra regiones de Virginia es la época de una serie de festivales, los cuales año tras año se dedican a celebrarlas más reconocidas tradiciones regionales.
Algunos de los festivales a celebrarse incluyen:
Feria Del Estado De Virginia, la cual se realiza 25 millas al norte de Richmond en Doswell, Va. Este festival se inicia el 24 de septiembre y culmina el 4 de octubre. Festival de las Tradiciones de la Calle Henry (Henry Street Heritage Festival) que en el 2009 estácelebrando sus 20 años de existencia. Este festival se realizará el dia sábado 26 de septiembre en el Elmwood Park. Este festival se caracteriza por celebrar la cultura, e historia de la comunidad afro-americana de Roanoke, y como una forma de recolectar fondos para el Museo Harrison. Festival de las Calabazas de la Granja The Sinkland. Este festival se inicia el 26 de septiembre, y culmina el 8 de noviembre en Christiansburg. El festival de música "The Big Lick Blues Festival" se celebrara este año el Sábado, 3 de octubre, en el Elmwood Park. Autumn has arrived and it is the time of year that we traditionally celebrate the change of seasons. In the Roanoke Valley and other regions of Virginia it is a time of many fall festivals that invite everyone in the community to participate in the rich heritage of this area. A few of the upcoming festivals include:
The State Fair of Virginia 25 miles north of Richmond in Doswell, Va., Sept. 24 through Oct. 4 with food, rides, music and exhibits. For more information, visit www.statefair.com or call 804-569-3200.
The 20th Anniversary Henry Street Heritage Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Elmwood Park in downtown Roanoke. This festival celebrates the culture and history of African Americans and is a fundraiser for the Harrison Museum. For more information, visit www.harrisonmuseum.com or call 540-345-4818.
The Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival Saturday, Sept. 26, through November 8 -- on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays -- in Christiansburg. Events include hayrides, a corn maze, food, and lots of entertainment for the children. For more information, visit www.sinklandfarms.com or call 540-382-4640.
The Big Lick BluesFestival on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, in Elmwood Park will feature great blues music, barbeque ribs, and other delicious foods. For more information, visit www.biglickblues.org or call 540-342-2640.
The sixth annual Latino Festival will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11, from noon until 6 p.m. in Elmwood Park. This celebration of Hispanic culture has grown each year and includes fantastic foods from all over Latin America, music, dancing, community and educational exhibits, and many fun activities for children.
