Summary: The federal government has set up an Internet site called INFOPASS that allows people to make appointments with immigration officials.
Sabía usted que puede ya obtener respuestas e información sobre diferentes asuntos que estén relacionados con sus trámites de inmigración? Y esto lo puede hacer sin la necesidad de asistir a oficinas de inmigración, y ahorrándose la espera en las largas líneas que se forman en estas instituciones.
El Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de Estados Unidos, el USCIS, tiene a su disposición un servicio llamado INFOPASS. Éste es un sistema por Internet que permite al público fijar citas con oficiales de información de inmigración que trabajan en las oficinas de USCIS.
Si usted tiene una pregunta o duda en lo referente a algún proceso migratorio que pueda ser respondida por un oficial de USCIS capacitado para hacerlo, INFOPASS es una alternativa segura, cómoda y conveniente para hacerlo. Sólo tendrá que visitar la pagina electrónica www.uscis.gov para recibir la asistencia que necesita.
¿Como funciona el sistema INFOPASS?
n Primeramente, no es necesario tener un software especial, se requiere solamente de una computadora y servicio de Internet.
n Una vez que visite www.uscis.gov, la página inicial le pedirá que seleccione su idioma.
n Siguiendo las instrucciones, usted tendrá que escribir su código postal, nombre, fecha de nacimiento, número de teléfono, tipo de cita deseada con la fecha y hora que usted seleccione.
n Posteriormente, INFOPASS le generará un aviso con la fecha, la hora, la dirección de la oficina de USCIS a donde deberá acudir y las instrucciones sobre documentos adicionales que su caso requiera.
Además de hacer una cita y como mencioné anteriormente, tal vez no necesite usted visitar una oficina de USCIS para recibir la asistencia que necesita, ya que se ofrecen en este sistema ocho de los formularios más frecuentes y que representan más del 50 por ciento de las solicitudes presentadas cada año. También puede solicitar servicios de inmigración llamando al Centro Nacional de Servicio al Cliente (NCSC) cuyo número es el 1-800-375-5283.

How does the INFOPASS system work?
n In the first place, you don't need to have special software, you just need a computer with Internet service.
n Once you visit www.uscis.gov, a link in the home page will ask you to select your language.
n Following the instructions, you will have to write your ZIP code, your name, birth date, telephone number and the type of appointment with the date and time of your choice.
n Subsequently, INFOPASS will generate the date, the time and the USCIS office that you will need to visit with the specific instructions of additional documents that your case might require.
Besides making an appointment, you can save the trip to an USCIS office in order to receive other services. This system also offers eight of the most requested forms that represent more than 50 percent of applications submitted each year.
