Tech men's tickets go on sale

In the region

Virginia Tech will put fewer than 500 men's basketball season tickets on sale to the general public beginning today.

Fans attending Tech's home football game today can buy season tickets at the Cassell Coliseum ticket office from 9 a.m. until kickoff. Tickets can also be bought by calling the ticket office at 1-800-VAT-ECH4 or by going online at hokietickets.com.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING

W&L tops poll

Washington and Lee has been picked to win its 12th straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference title in a preseason poll of league coaches.

The W&L women got three first-place votes. Randolph-Macon, which finished second in the poll, got the other two votes. Hollins was picked fourth among the six teams.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Radford, UNCA tie

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Jonita Hooker scored in the 75th minute as Radford rallied to tie UNC-Asheville 2-2 in a Big South Conference game.

The first-place Bulldogs (7-5-2, 4-0-2) scored twice in the game's first 23 minutes before the Highlanders (3-1-1 BSC) began their rally.

Radford's Debbie Leach scored to cut the deficit to 2-1 late in the first half.

Va. Tech 3, ODU 1

BLACKSBURG - Freshman Ashley Stinson scored a hat trick as the Hokies (8-5) defeated the Monarchs (6-5-2) in a nonconference game.

Hollins 2, Peace 1

Leah Jackman and Kasey Garito scored as host Hollins (2-8) defeated Peace in a nonconference game.

Lords lead Columbia

FERRUM - Allison Lord scored three goals and Christy Lord had the other in a 4-1 victory by Columbia, S.C., over Ferrum.

Jennifer Phillips scored the lone goal for the Panthers (3-7-1).

Shannon Crisp had eight saves for Columbia (6-2-2).

TENNIS

Hagerman makes final

Washington and Lee's Lindsay Hagerman advanced to the Division III women's singles final at the ITA National Small College Championships in Fort Myers, Fla.

Hagerman, the top seed, beat Lauren Hom of Gustavus Adolphus 6-0, 6-2 in a semifinal Friday. She will face Liz Bondi of DePauw in today's final.
