Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick has been charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana after an early morning traffic stop on Saturday.

Vick was pulled over by state police at 2:30 a.m. Saturday after being clocked going 86 mph in a 65-mph zone on Interstate 64 in New Kent County, police spokesman Lt. Gary Payne said. Trooper Samuel Ward charged Vick with reckless driving, a misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana. He was released on a summons.

Vick, a redshirt sophomore who was expected to contend for the starting quarterback job, was sentenced to 30 days in jail in May after being convicted on three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His lawyer has appealed that verdict.

Vick was also suspended for a game during the 2003 season for an unspecified violation of team policy
