At least three people were stabbed in two unrelated incidents Friday night and early Saturday, police said.
The first occurred just after 10 p.m. outside an apartment complex at 12th Street and Jamison Avenue Southeast, according to Shelly Alley, spokeswoman for the Roanoke Police Department. A 17-year-old boy, whom police did not name because of his age, was stabbed near his home, Alley said. He was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and was in serious condition Saturday, Alley said.
Police arrested Damien Wright, 21, at his Tazewell Avenue Southeast home and charged him with malicious wounding. He was being held without bond Saturday at the Roanoke City Jail.
Later, at 1:20 a.m., police were called to a stabbing at Gary's Bar & Grill in the 500 block of Marshall Avenue Southwest. A mother and daughter, ages 49 and 19, were stabbed, and a 30-year-old woman was struck with a hammer during a fight, Alley said. She did not release the names of the women because of pending charges.
Police are still investigating the incident, and they think there may be other victims and suspects, Alley said. Anyone with information can call the Roanoke Police Criminal Investigation Unit at 853-2571.
