1st-half lead fades for Patrick Henry

Patrick Henry carried a 23-20 lead into halftime, but the Patriots couldn't hold off Heritage in the second half and lost 34-23 in a nondistrict game in Lynchburg on Friday night.

The game was PH's homecoming game and was moved to Lynchburg because of an unplayable field at Victory Stadium. Chris Cook scored three touchdowns and finished with 180 rushing yards, while Wayne Ford contributed 160 yards rushing and threw two touchdown passes for Heritage (4-1).

Quarterback J.C. Simmons completed nine passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns, while Seth Chapman hauled in six catches for 95 yards for Patrick Henry (1-5).

Clifton McGowan had a kickoff return as well as a touchdown reception for the Knights (3-3).

Alan Childress was the leading rusher for the Mustangs with 60 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns.
