Thursday, October 28, 2004 Vote. Just do it.ROANOKE.COM COLUMNIST In just a few days, we will be electing a president. I am very concerned that we in the Village go out and vote. Who you vote for is your choice, but vote. If you are still undecided, I am pleading with you to take these last days to make up your mind and vote. Don't just say that you can't make up your mind as to who you would like to see in the White House -- and therefore won't vote. That is a right that you do not have. For those who feel that their vote will not count, look at this picture. Youth and minorities hold the key to who will be elected president. I have received some startling statistics from the 2000 election:
If we will take our responsibility seriously, then an election will never again have to be determined by the United States Supreme Court. On Nov. 2, you are mandated to make a decision. You are mandated to charter your future. Don't allow someone else to determine your destiny. Don't allow someone else to choose your leaders for you. Go to the polls and vote. It is your right and your choice! |
