BY THE NUMBERS: Norfolk Southern wins safety award
If you're working on the railroad all the live-long day, or night, Norfolk Southern Corp. is just the place for the safety minded. The company won the Harriman Award for employee safety Tuesday for the 17th consecutive year.
The award is based on the lowest casualty rates for hours worked.
NS received the gold award among railroads that had 15 million or more employee hours during 2005. BNSF Railway was ranked second and CSX Transportation was third.
