Names and Changes
EDUCATION
The following changes have been made at Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke: Rebecca Greer has been named director for the pre-licensure bachelor of science in nursing program and Melody Meier has been named director for the post-licensure bachelor of science in nursing program.
Ferrum College President Jennifer Braaten announced that Kathleen O'Malley will become associate vice president of institutional advancement and George Seals has been named director of planned and principal gifts.
The International Union of Forest Research Organizations will honor Virginia Tech professor Janaki R.R. Alavalapati with the 2010 IUFRO Scientific Achievement Award. Guillermo Trincado, who earned his doctorate in forest biometrics at Virginia Tech in 2006, will receive the Outstanding Doctoral Research Award.
Thomas Fox, professor of forestry in Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources and Environment, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for research and teaching at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago, Chile.

StellarOne Bank has announced that Deborah Coleman was among the 63 Virginia bankers who graduated from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Walter Raines III of Salem, a Modern Woodmen of America representative, has completed a five-day educational program at Modern Woodmen's home office in Rock Island, Ill.

Bernice Leftwich, a member of the Bedford Host Lions Club, was installed as district governor for District 24-E, Lions of Virginia, at the International Convention in Sydney, Australia, in July.
