WDBJ to start 'Mornin' ' half-hour earlier
Viewers of the Roanoke CBS affiliate show "Mornin' " will see 30 extra minutes of programming beginning Monday, the station announced Wednesday.
The morning newscast start time will shift from 5:30 a.m. to 5 a.m., said WDBJ (Channel 7) News Director Amy Morris. "Mornin' " runs until 7 a.m.
Roanoke's NBC affiliate, WSLS (Channel 10), added their 5 a.m. newscast, "On Your Side Today," in August 2008, while the Lynchburg-based ABC affiliate, WSET (Channel 13), added the 5 a.m. "Good Morning Virginia" in January 2005.
Morris said the move was not in response to any newly felt competition with crosstown rival WSLS.
"It's just a trend that people get their news earlier," Morris said.
