Former anchorman leaves Roanoke public relations firm
Former television anchorman John Carlin no longer works for a local advertising and public relations firm, but his next move is unclear.
Carlin confirmed Monday that he no longer works for Access in Roanoke. He said he's doing some independent public relations work, but he has not finalized his plans. His page at linkedin.com, a networking Web site, lists him as the owner of John Carlin Agency. He declined to discuss the reasons he left Access.
After 21 years as an anchor at WSLS (Channel 10), Carlin said in late 2008 that he was retiring to become a senior vice president at Access.
Todd Marcum, president of Access, said Carlin left the firm earlier this month.
"There were other things that he wanted to check out and pursue in his career," Marcum said.
He added that there are "absolutely no hard feelings" about Carlin's departure.
