A private equity group has pulled out of bidding and discussions with Ukrop's Super Market related to a possible purchase of the Richmond chain, according to a report by Supermarket News, which cites unnamed sources.

The industry publication stated Monday on its Web site that talks crumbled between Ukrop's and a private equity group because of troubles obtaining financing and other contractual issues.

Ukrop's will continue shopping for a potential buyer, and it is talking with previous bidders, according to Supermarket News.

Officials at Ukrop's have not confirmed that the company and its 28-store chain is for sale since news broke in July that it was seeking buyers.

Ukrop's will close its Roanoke store on Oct. 24 after a little more than two years.
