ANDREA KILMER has been named Chief Financial Officer of the Year by Virginia Business magazine and The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.

EDUCATION

Gov. Tim Kaine has appointed JOHN JUMPER, retired chief of staff of the Air Force, and KIMBER LATSHA, founding principal of Latsha, Davis, Yohe & McKenna PC, to the Virginia Military Institute Board of Visitors, and reappointed ELIZABETH LEE CAMP and MARSHALL MUNDY of Roanoke.

LEIGH McCUE-WEIL, assistant professor in the Virginia Tech College of Engineering's Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering has received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.

DR. MARK GREENAWALD has been named founding chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute.

JESUS de la GARZA, the Vecellio Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech, is being honored with a distinguished professor award by the Construction Industry Institute.

RUTH WAALKES has been named executive director of the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech.

ROBERT GRISSO, professor of biological systems engineering in Virginia Tech's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and farm equipment and safety specialist for Virginia Cooperative Extension, was elected into the American Society of Agriculture and Biological Engineers' 2009 Class of Fellows.

Virginia Western Community College has hired PATRICIA MARICKOVICH as an infant and toddler specialist.

LAW

JONATHAN BLANK, a partner at McGuire Woods LLP, has been appointed by Gov. Tim Kaine to serve on the Virginia Board of Corrections.
