EDUCATION
JENNIFER HODGSON, an associate professor of microbiology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology, has been named the associate dean for professional programs in the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
SEONG MUN has joined Virginia Tech as professor of physics and research fellow at the Virginia Tech Institute for Advanced Study.
Virginia Tech's College of Engineering presented its 2008 Distinguished Service Award to mechanical engineering alumnus JOHN SPARKS, director of engineering and technology programs at Aerojet, a GenCorp Inc. company.

HEALTH CARE
PETER EYRE, professor emeritus and former dean of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, has been honored with an "American Veterinary Medical Association President's Award," for exceptional service to the profession of veterinary medicine.
TINA HARRISON, of Richfield Recovery & Care Center, has been recognized by the Virginia Health Care Association as its Certified Nursing Assistant of the Year in Virginia.

The Roanoke Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross has named new officers for 2008-09: WELDON LAWRENCE, chairman; T. The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center announced that MICHELLE VANN has been appointed director of housekeeping and JOHNNY CRUZ has been promoted to executive steward.
