ACCOUNTING

Cole & Associates CPAs LLC announced the addition of ELAINE BAYS as an office administrator.

Goodman & Company LLP announced the addition of KAITLIN HERTLING as an associate in the Roanoke office.

EDUCATION

PETER DOOLITTLE has been named director of Virginia Tech's Center for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.

The Fralin Biotechnology Center and the Institute for Biomedical and Public Health Sciences have been administratively merged to form the Fralin Life Science Institute at Virginia Tech. DENNIS DEAN, the Stroobants Professor of Biotechnology, will direct the new institute.TRACEY TALLEY SCHROEDER will be the associate director for administration and finance.

Virginia Tech's Marion dupont Scott Equine Medical Center has named KATE LEE as public relations coordinator.

MICHAEL PHILEN, assistant professor of aerospace and ocean engineering at Virginia Tech, has received the Oak Ridge Associated Universities Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Award.

ENGINEERING

Draper Aden Associates announced that SAM LIONBERGER JR. and CHARLES CATLETT III have joined its board of directors.

HSMM AECOM announced the promotion of the following to senior associate: PETER BROWN, JOSEPH CALDWELL, DANIEL DiMARCO, GREGORY HALL, KRISTINE LATIMER, and DAVID LIEVSAY in the Roanoke buildings division; SHANE POWERS in the Roanoke civil/environmental division; and MARGARET McBRIDE in the Roanoke corporate office.

The transportation division of HSMM AECOM announced the addition of two engineers in the Roanoke office; DUSTIN BROOKMAN and ANDREW HICKLING will be working in the highway department.

HEALTH CARE

Warm Hearth Village announced that DR. KAROL GORDON has assumed the position of medical director.

The Commission on Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities announced that Brain Injury Services of SWVA has been accredited for a period of three years for its case management programs serving adults, children and adolescents.

INSURANCE

WILLIAM McCLOE JR. has been hired by the Roanoke general office of New York Life Insurance, as an agent.

Chas. Lunsford Sons & Associates announced that FRANCES GARRETT was elected vice president of the Professional Insurance Agents of VA & DC State Board of Directors.

LAW

Attorney ANN McGEE GREEN, of the law firm of Anderson, Desimone & Green, P.C., was listed in the 2008 Virginia Super Lawyers magazine in the area of estate planning and probate.

MICHAEL DRZAL has relocated from Charlottesville to LeClairRyan's Blacksburg office. Drzal is a shareholder in the firm's corporate group and serves as the chair of the firm's technology and venture capital team.

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Inc. has named Roanoke College head basketball coach PAGE MOIR to its board of directors.

The Greater Blue Ridge Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has elected new officers for 2008-09 and added new members to their board: TED FEINOUR, president; CHARLIE WEBB, president elect; CLARK COLE, vice president fundraising; DOUGLAS BUTLER, secretary; BRUCE WOOD, treasurer; and new board members: NEAL BRENNER, CAROL BECKNER, JULIE KISER, SUSAN O'MALLEY, C.W.
