ACCOUNTING

CLARK COLE, CPA, announced the formation of Cole & Associates CPAs LLC.

EDUCATION

Virginia Tech's Institute for Advanced Learning and Research has named LIAM LEIGHTLEY as executive director.

JOHN HARRALD and THERESA JEFFERSON have joined the Virginia Tech center for technology, security and policy, as research professors.

ENGINEERING

The buildings division of HSMM AECOM announced that BEN FINK has been promoted to principal.

Froehling and Robertson Inc. announced that ALAN TUCK has been promoted to regional director of business development and PAUL BRYAN has been promoted to manager of business development.

HEALTH CARE

SUSAN BRYANT has been named wellness director for Brandon Oaks Retirement Community Health & Vitality Center, scheduled to open later this year.

The Southwest Virginia Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council has named its 2008 board of directors: NELL BOYLE, chairwoman; STEVE SUNDERMAN, vice chairman; ADAM MARKWOOD, treasurer; JAMES SLEDD, secretary; and board members: COLIN ARNOLD, DICK PENNOCK, SEAN McGINNIS and MARK GARLAND.

Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia has named new officers for 2008-09 and added new members to the board: RANDY DONALDSON and TIM HUBBARD, co-chairmen; DON LORTON, chairman-elect; SUSAN STILL treasurer; COY RENICK, secretary; SCOTT MILLER, fund drive chairman; board members MICHAEL PHELPS, AMY CUMMINGS, BILL STONE, and TIM ISAACS.
