Names and changes: Week of Aug. 10

EDUCATION

BEVLEE WATFORD, associate dean for academic affairs, College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, is the recipient of the 2008 Founders Award from the Women in Engineering ProActive Network.

ROOP MAHAJAN, the James Tucker Professor of Engineering at Virginia Tech, has been named director of the Virginia Tech Carilion Medical Research Institute. DENNIS DEAN, the Stroobants Professor of Biotehnology at Virginia Tech, will be the associate director.

KIMBERLE BADINELLI, associate director of student programs for public relations and information technology at Virginia Tech, has been elected president of The National Association of College and University Food Services Mid-Atlantic region.

HEALTH CARE

Roanoke native JEANNE WOHLFORD has joined the staff of The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, as the director of cardiovascular and pulmonary services.

DR. E. MARK WATTS of Carilion Family Medicine, Parkway Physicians, was installed as president of the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians.

Active Mobility's three locations, in Salem, Lynchburg and Waynesboro, passed the Exemplary Provider Accreditation evaluation.

The company also announced that LISA SCELERA, in the Salem office, has met the eligibility requirements of Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America.

Warm Hearth Village has announced the promotion of NICOLE LONG to the resident services coordinator position at Kroontje Health Care Center.
